My issue is that FL to me seems extremely overwhelming to learn. So, as you can imagine, my only experience creating music is either improvising on the piano, or using Musescore or a pencil to notate and score my ideas. My background is that I'm a classically trained pianist and composer/arranger for choral and orchestral pieces. I eventually want to write music for video games, film, or television. I'm Trying to get started making some music.

Well, let me give you 1 example, the basic “bass disonance pitcher” I call it./r/FL_Studio - The Reddit Home Of FL Studio Read Our Rules Before Posting: Rules “Try to create this effect on your own, or many others, using this free FSC sample…” Why keep creating a snare roll over & over? Or basic types of basic grooves? Or even more interesting grooves? You should have all this “data intelligence” pre-saved so you can quickly access it & mix it with sounds. I will be offering free & paid grooves on this site. But for BUILDING OUT REAL GROOVES & SCORES you need the “FSC” files saved in individual folders. Which can be uninspiring unless all you do is remixing. These filters are also easier to automate & sound better since the sound quality can be better than most VSTs (if sample collection is done right). As the filter on the SF2 plugin is incredible, it sounds unbelievable, it can be automated differently per note, creates insane dynamics… which I will show. I would focus on collecting soundfonts first. Build a competent folder of the absolute best sounds you can find. Become a sound miner for a few hrs a day for a few months. Is this not beautiful?įor now, I would recommend these 2 things: Combine that 1 synth with sylenth, vanguard, sytrus, some HQ SF2s & FSC scores… you are completely SET to produce really BEAUTIFUL SCORES. You can also drop $500 for omnisphere which would also have this impact. It raises the intelligence of your music more than anything I know of. A competent FSC bank will do this for you. And you need great FSC scores (or grooves). You start playing with filters in the filter velocity, drop the filter, slip off to the pattern editer & you can start CREATING FIRE! These scores you just drag & drop from the sidebar like you would a sample. Then you throw these layered sounds over an FSC score. That sound like hard hardware & soft software.

That you can at least LAYER BEHIND other thinner sounds… from say VSTs… to build really “present”, layered type sounds.
